WHAT DO WE DO ?
With a team of dedicated and inspired people, We, at Sahyog aim to work tirelessly to alleviate the standard of living for the poor and the marginalised. We do this through comprehensive and well-planned programs inclusive of health care, education for the children, food and nutrition and most of all safety and protection of children. We want to launch a tirade against social inequality by giving scholarships and education to kids on the streets and making healthcare affordable for as many people as we can.
When it comes to lending a hand in any way we can, Sahyog aims to be the first name you call. Be it taking care in times of emergencies like natural disasters or helping out kids with school fees. We want to spread our branches as wide as we can, specially in the remote areas of the country to reach anyone in need. From educating children to making their lives easier by taking care of livelihood needs, we really wish to become an invisible backbone to the underprivileged.
What’s more is we also talk about and train people to help us do the same, increasing the number of helpers creating a more hopeful, more accepting society, one person at a time. A non-governmental organisation, we believe in creating a sustainable chain reaction of better livelihoods by being a catalyst.
For every problem, there is a solution and for we believe the most basic solution to almost every problem begins with education. Committed to providing basic education to the under-privileged, our team at Sahyog works tirelessly to make sure kids get the opportunity to go to a school and more importantly, stay in schools.
Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; becoming the one tool that empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and increasing a social awareness towards issues like healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to getting firm grasp on rights and duties. Education helps kids in becoming a responsible adult and a citizen who contributes. We create opportunities for children across all backgrounds to get an inclusive education, gender equitable and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
We collaborate with the local communities and schools to ensure that even the most marginalized children in their areas are sent to school and they stay there. Our team is specially dedicated to education for deprived children, all children ranging from the street kids to children who have faced issues like health problems, child labour, extreme poverty, disabilities and slum children. We specially give a lot of emphasis to educating girls all around. Empowered girls become individuals who can eventually support full families.
Sahyog Foundation believes that it is only through education that we can make the most fundamental changes in the lives of these children, with hopes that they will in turn do the same for their families and society eventually. We want to see children become leaders, learn life skills and take up their own endeavours and not be bound by issues like poverty. We want to be the bridge between their hopes and dreams and reality.
We really hope to see each and every child to grow up and be confident, to be able to stand as an equal in the society, without facing inequality. We dream along with them, and work with them to see them as pilots, teachers, policemen, CEOs, singers, artists and be make the world a more hopeful place for everyone.
Malnutrition remains a silent crisis among urban low income communities. Government programmes that address this issue face challenges in quality of service delivery and implementation. Many target beneficiaries are also unaware of how to avail these government services.

India is home to one-third of the world’s malnourished children. Of the approximately 6,000 child deaths that occur in India every day, more than half are a direct result of malnutrition. The advent of malnutrition is mostly more concentrated around the slums and villages without proper sanitation where there is also an acute lack to healthcare, clean water and acceptable sanitation.
Newborns and Infants are the most vulnerable. We at Sahyog want to ensure no infant dies of preventable diseases like diarrhoea and pneumonia just because there was no medical facility available or it was too expensive. We also put a special emphasis on improving new-born and maternal health through always having proper care around. Most of the times, lack of awareness becomes a silent killer. We collaborate with local health care institutes and doctors to campaign for basic healthcare awareness and conduct educational sessions on sanitation.
Our team relentlessly works to improve the hygiene and nutrition behaviour of the communities we work with while also teaching the habits of healthy living, resulting in better cleanliness which is more often than not one of the most important things in areas like these.
From medical screening and consultation for severely undernourished children to hiring specialised nutritionists who can take care of proper food for the underprivileged, and giving meals to the needy, we aim to create a system where there is always proper care available to whoever needs it. We eventually want to work to build hygiene and sanitation facilities, safe drinking water facilities, and training programmes for children’s caregivers and volunteers and try to reach as many people as we can, making as many lives better as we can.
